Casey Farr
Leading With Purpose
Casey Farr’s career is rooted in service, adaptability, and a commitment to growth—qualities that shaped his military career and professional advancement at Leidos QTC Health Services. Farr began this journey in 1999 when he joined the U.S. Air Force. With over more than two decades of service, he built a remarkable career that spans aircraft munitions systems, training and development, recruiting, explosive safety, and human resources (HR). Retiring from active duty in April 2021, he transitioned to civilian life by starting his career with Leidos QTC within the same month.
Farr’s path to the company began during his transition from active duty, when he applied for a recruiter role. He said, “Although that role had already been filled, the recruiting team recognized my background and reached out when a supervisor role opened.” After interviewing, he was selected for the supervisor role and today, he serves as a Senior HR Manager of Talent Acquisition. In his own words, he explained, “I lead staffing efforts across multiple areas of the organization. My role includes developing staffing strategies, advising business partners, and leading a team of five professionals to deliver high-impact hiring solutions.”
Although Farr is retired from his Air Force duties, military life remains central to his family. He explained, “Since retiring, my spouse has remained on active duty, and we have already completed two permanent change of station (PCS) moves, with a third coming soon. My role initially required in-office work, but shortly after I started, the organization transitioned to a remote model.” That reality could have made career continuity difficult, but flexibility at Leidos QTC made all the difference. The remote work model provided what he described as “critical flexibility,” allowing him to continue advancing professionally while supporting family. “My leadership team has been incredibly supportive, helping me navigate the unique challenges of military life while staying focused on professional growth,” he said.
Balancing professional development with military family life is an ongoing effort, one that requires prioritization and support. He emphasized that leadership has been essential to his success, by encouraging him to pursue growth while managing the realities of military life. He said, “From day one, my leaders have provided guidance, honest feedback, and encouragement. They have created an environment where I can learn, grow, and take on new challenges while staying accountable and focused on continuous improvement.”
A typical day in Farr’s world shows how flexibility fuels both performance and family stability. “Working remotely allows me to start my day early—getting my daughter to daycare, fitting in a workout, and beginning my workday from home. I’m able to end my day when she returns home, which is invaluable since my spouse’s active-duty schedule often limits flexibility.” As long as expectations are met, his leadership team supports the flexibility his family needs, which he described as support that “ultimately helps my spouse stay focused on mission readiness.”
When asked about professional growth opportunities at the company, Farr made it clear that “the company does a great job of acknowledging performance and investing in employee growth.” Through Leidos QTC’s education benefits, Farr completed his master’s degree with full tuition covered. Along the way, his work has been recognized through two promotions and multiple awards.
Reflecting on his own journey and the lessons learned along the way, Farr offered the following advice to fellow military spouses who may be navigating career uncertainty or frequent change: “Military spouses bring incredible value—education, resilience, adaptability, and persistence. Frequent moves can sometimes erode confidence, but it’s important to remember your worth. Being a military spouse does not limit your success. Believe in yourself, show up confidently, and make your impact known.”
