Driven by Service

Service has been a defining thread throughout Darcy Beatty’s life and career. She proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed at Barnegat Light and Cape May Air stations, small boat search and rescue stations. After transitioning from military service, she continued building her career through a series of part-time roles before securing a temporary appointment by the Department of Homeland Security, an opportunity that opened the door to a long and meaningful career with the Department of Veterans Affairs. After more than 20 years with Veterans Benefits Administration, she felt called to continue supporting the military community in a new way. She said, “I decided it was time to serve Veterans in a different capacity and pursued a position with Leidos QTC. I come from a long line of Veterans and have always had a passion to help Veterans in any way I can.”

Her transition from the military to civilian work came with positive momentum. Rather than facing barriers, she found that her military background helped open doors. “I found that employers were more willing to give me a chance because I was prior military,” she said. Embracing challenges has always been part of her mindset, and she worked hard to prove herself in every role she held. Those same principles continue to guide her work today at Leidos QTC Health Services.

Currently serving as a Quality Analyst on the Quality team, Beatty explained the following about her role: “The common goal of this role is the continuing effort to increase the quality of exams we perform.” Beatty approaches her work with lasting values such as teamwork, dedication, patriotism, inner strength, and empowerment to help others. These qualities are reflected in her commitment to excellence and her focus on ensuring accuracy and consistency in every exam reviewed. She reflected, “Since joining Leidos QTC, I have focused and continue to work on increasing my skills and knowledge of the exam processes to better serve this company, customers, and stakeholders.”

When asked what advice she would share to Veterans considering a career at the company, Beatty said “I would tell any Veteran considering applying to work at Leidos QTC to apply! Leidos QTC provides opportunities to continue serving fellow Service Members and Veterans.” She frequently shares job postings and information with other Veterans, believing strongly in the company’s mission and its commitment to those who have served.

Although she has been with the organization for over two years, she emphasized how impactful the culture and leadership has been as everyone works towards a shared goal of serving Service Members and Veterans. Beatty explained, “I feel the work we do here at Leidos QTC is extremely important and it’s imperative that we provide our claimants with accurate and sufficient exams. Being part of a team that has a direct impact on improving the quality of the exams we conduct, which can in turn have a positive impact on a Service Member or Veteran’s life, is something that I take very seriously.”
