Stacey Smith
A Career Built on Care
For Stacey Smith, service has always been rooted in caring for others. A former U.S. Air Force hospital administrator, she served on active duty and later in the Air Force Reserves, building a foundation of leadership, structure, and dedication to patient care that continues to shape her career.
After completing active duty, Smith transitioned to Physician Assistant school, a move she describes as seamless. “Going from active duty to school was an easy transition,” she shared. “School was full-time, all day, in person, and well structured—similar to the service.” She later returned to the Reserves as a hospital administrator while continuing to advance her medical career. Though she is no longer serving, military life remains close to home as her husband currently is an Air Force Reservist.
Today, Smith is a Physician Assistant at QTC Medical Group, P.C, conducting exams for the Reserve Health Readiness Program, Veterans, the Secret Service, the FBI, and other government agencies. It’s a role that allows her to combine her clinical expertise with the values instilled during her military service. She said, “Military service taught me attention to detail, follow-through, teamwork, time management, and selflessness.”
While her career path at Leidos QTC has remained focused on patient-facing work, that’s exactly where Smith thrives. She continues to conduct exams and values the direct connection she has with those she serves. “My supervisors have been overwhelmingly understanding and helpful when it comes to any challenges I have encountered,” she shared. For Veterans considering a career with the company, Smith reflected on the workplace culture where military experience is respected and where Veterans are able to grow and keep serving with purpose. She said, “It’s been a wonderful work experience and those who I have encountered have been nothing but understanding and helpful in times of need.”
As for the next chapter, Smith is continuing to serve a mission larger than herself. “I feel as though I still do continue to serve when I see individuals for their exams. Making sure they are fit for their duties and responsibilities allows me to ensure our forces are taken care of and that they are still able to perform their duties and to continue to take care of us.”
